I must say that another favorite thing about the military is all of the wonderful people you get to meet along the way. Even though we won't always be living in the same city, I have met some people that I know will be lifelong friends.
One particular friend that is nearest and dearest to my heart is Nicole. We met on a trip to Great Lakes, IL in April of 2006. She was the girlfriend of our friend, Jr. Even though she lived in Las Vegas, afterwards we kept in touch quite a bit through email and phone calls and became very close friends. It was really nice to have someone to talk to who could relate to all of the things I was going through having a significant other in the military. Unfortunately she passed away in a car accident in December of 2007. It was a huge shock and still to this day it is hard for me to believe that she is no longer with us. She was such a wonderful person and has touched my life in so many ways. I am so grateful that I had the chance to know her. I miss her dearly.
